Belote scoring without the headache
Pick the team that took and type its points: Teamzy adds the belote, decides between contract made, contract lost, dispute or capot, and fills in the score sheet all the way to 1000.

Belote in 30 seconds
Belote is a classic French card game: four players in two teams, 32 cards. The cards are worth 162 points with the last trick bonus. The team that takes must score more than the other, belote included: if it scores less, the contract is lost and the defence scores all 162 points. On a tie, it's a dispute: the taker's points wait for the next deal. Belote and rebelote is always worth 20 points, and a capot (every trick) brings 252. Matches are often played to 1000 points.
What each card is worth
In trumps, the jack and the 9 become the strongest cards. With the last trick bonus, a deal is worth 162 points: this is exactly the scale Teamzy applies when you enter a deal.
The cards and the last trick
| What counts | Points |
|---|---|
| Jack of trumps | 20 |
| 9 of trumps | 14 |
| Ace | 11 |
| 10 | 10 |
| King | 4 |
| Queen | 3 |
| Jack (not trumps) | 2 |
| Last trick bonus | 10 |
| 7s and 8s, 9s not trumps | 0 |
What each team scores
Both teams' totals are compared, belote included. Teamzy spots the case by itself.
| Result | Who scores what |
|---|---|
| Contract made | The taker scores more than the defence: each team scores its own points, belote included. |
| Contract lost | The taker scores less: the defence scores 162 points, plus its belote. The taker only keeps its belote. |
| Dispute | A tie, often 81 each: the defence scores its points straight away. The taker's points are set aside for the team that wins the next deal. |
| Capot | One team takes every trick: it scores 252 points, plus its belote. The other only keeps its belote. |
Belote and declarations
Belote and rebelote is worth 20 points and always stays with the team that holds it, even when the contract is lost. Declarations aren't part of classic Belote, but many tables play them: only the team with the best one scores its own, and they go to the team that wins the deal on a lost contract or a capot. Teamzy counts them, and a game setting turns them off.
| Declaration | What you need | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Belote and rebelote | The king and queen of trumps in the same hand | 20 |
| Sequence of 3 | 3 cards in a row, same suit (tierce) | 20 |
| Sequence of 4 | 4 cards in a row (cinquante) | 50 |
| Sequence of 5 | 5 cards in a row (cent) | 100 |
| Four A, 10, K or Q | The four aces, tens, kings or queens | 100 |
| Four 9s | The four nines | 150 |
| Four jacks | The four jacks | 200 |
One deal, from start to finish
The Eagles take. They hold the belote, but their tricks only bring 76 points, last trick bonus included.
- 1The cards are worth 162 points: that leaves 162 − 76 = 86 for the Tigers.
- 2The belote counts toward the contract: the Eagles go up to 76 + 20 = 96.
- 396 against 86: the Eagles scored more than the defence, the contract is made.
The Eagles score 96 points, the Tigers 86. Without the belote, they would have lost the contract, and the Tigers would have pocketed all 162 points.
In Teamzy, you type 76 and tap the belote: the calculation shows up by itself, exactly like this.

The questions that always come up at the table
You need more points than the other team, belote included. Without a belote or a declaration, 82 points out of 162 is enough; if the defence holds the belote, you need 92. Many tables play it simpler: more than 81 card points, with the belote added afterwards. Teamzy follows the official rule, and the other way can be chosen in the game settings.
In trumps: jack 20, 9 14, ace 11, 10 10, king 4, queen 3, nothing for the 8 and 7. Outside trumps: ace 11, 10 10, king 4, queen 3, jack 2, nothing for the 9, 8 and 7. The last trick brings 10 more points, the last trick bonus: 162 points in all.
The team that took scores nothing except its belote. The defence scores the deal's 162 points, plus its own belote. On the Teamzy score sheet, the deal is marked “Contract lost”, with the name of the team that went down.
Yes. The 20 points always stay with the team holding the king and queen of trumps, even when it goes down. You just have to announce it: “belote” when playing the first of the two cards, then “rebelote” with the second. Otherwise, it doesn't count.
The defence scores its 81 points straight away. The taker's points are set aside: the team that wins the next deal pockets them on top of its own. Teamzy keeps these points waiting and hands them over by itself at the right moment.
A team that takes all 8 tricks scores 252 points instead of 162: the last trick bonus is then worth 100. It adds its belote if it holds it. If the defence makes the capot, the taker loses the contract and only keeps its belote.
They aren't part of classic Belote, but many tables play them: tierce (3 in a row) 20, cinquante (4 in a row) 50, cent (5 in a row) 100, four aces, tens, kings or queens 100, four nines 150, four jacks 200. Only the team with the best declaration scores its own; on equal declarations, the highest card wins, then the one in trumps. Teamzy asks you which one is stronger when that happens.
It isn't required: some tournaments round each score to the nearest ten (84 becomes 80, 85 becomes 90), others count every point. Teamzy counts every point.
Usually 1000 points: the first team to reach them wins. Some tournaments set a number of deals instead. In Teamzy, the target is 1000 points and can be changed in the game settings.
