Teamzy
Coinche for 4, in two teams

Coinche scoring even when redoubled

Pick the contract, the trumps and the double, then type the takers' points: Teamzy says whether the contract is made or lost, adds the belotes, rounds to the ten and fills in the score sheet all the way to 2000.

Coinche in 30 seconds

Coinche, also called contrée, is the French belote with bidding: four players in two teams, 32 cards. The taking team bids a contract from 80 to 160 points, or capot, and picks the trumps. If it reaches it, belote included, it scores its points plus its contract; if not, the defence scores 160 plus the contract. A double doubles the stakes, a redouble quadruples them. Points are rounded to the ten, and matches are often played to 2000.

What each card is worth

The cards are worth the same as at belote: in trumps, the jack and the 9 outrank everything. With the last trick bonus, a deal is worth 162 points. This is the scale Teamzy applies when a suit is trumps.

What each team scores

The contract is made if the takers reach it, belote included, even when the defence scored more points. Each score is then rounded to the ten: Teamzy does it for you.

ResultWho scores what
Contract madeThe takers score their points, plus their contract, plus their belote. The defence scores its points and its belote.
Contract lostThe defence scores 160 plus the contract, and every belote. The takers score nothing.
DoubledThe team that was right scores 320 plus twice the contract, and every belote. The other team scores nothing.
RedoubledThe team that was right scores 640 plus four times the contract, and every belote. The other team scores nothing.
Capot bidThe takers must win all 8 tricks: they score 500 points (1,000 doubled, 2,000 redoubled), belote on top. If they miss, the defence scores the same, belotes included.

The points, contract by contract

What the team that was right scores, belotes aside (20 points each): the defence when the contract is lost, and the team that wins its bet when there is a double or a redouble.

A suit, no trumps or all trumps

No trumps and all trumps are a variant allowed by the French Belote Federation, and many tables play it. For all trumps, the Federation counts the cards at their trump value (258 points), then brings the total back to 162 with a conversion table. Teamzy uses a scale out of 162 directly: no table needed.

TrumpsCard values
A suitThe scale above: jack of trumps 20, 9 of trumps 14, ace 11, 10 10, king 4, queen 3. One belote possible.
No trumpsAce 19, 10 10, King 4, Queen 3, Jack 2. No belote.
All trumpsJack 13, 9 9, Ace 6, 10 5, King 3, Queen 2. Up to 4 belotes.

One deal, from start to finish

The Eagles bid 100 in spades and hold the belote. Their tricks bring 94 points, last trick bonus included.

  1. 1The cards are worth 162 points: that leaves 162 − 94 = 68 for the Tigers.
  2. 2The belote counts towards the contract: 94 + 20 = 114, at least 100, so the contract is made.
  3. 3The Eagles score their points, their contract and their belote: 94 + 100 + 20 = 214, rounded to 210. The Tigers score 68, rounded to 70.

The Eagles score 210 points, the Tigers 70. Had the Tigers doubled, the Eagles would have scored 320 + 2 × 100 + 20 = 540 points, and the Tigers nothing.

In Teamzy, you pick 100, type 94 and tap the belote: the sum and the rounding show up on their own, exactly as here.

The questions that always come up at the table

Yes. Coinche, belote coinchée and belote contrée all name the same belote with bidding: coincher means to double, and surcoincher to redouble. The French Belote Federation calls it belote contrée. It is played by 4, in two teams; the Federation plays it without declarations, and Teamzy does not count them.
