How to score Rummy, round after round
At the end of each round, you enter what is left in each hand: Teamzy adds it up, ranks the players and ends the match as soon as someone reaches 500. The lowest total wins.

Rummy in 30 seconds
Everyone tries to get rid of their cards by laying down runs and sets. As soon as one player has played all their cards, the round stops: the others count the cards left in their hand (face cards 10, aces 11, jokers 20) and add them to their total. At many tables, whoever laid nothing down that round takes 100 points. The match ends when a player reaches 500: the lowest total wins. This is Rummy as it is counted in France, where it is called Rami.
What each card left in your hand is worth
In this Rummy, points count against you: they are the cards you did not manage to lay down. So get rid of your face cards, aces and jokers early. This is exactly the scale Teamzy shows when you enter a round.
Cards left in hand
| What counts | Points |
|---|---|
| Each card from 2 to 10 | its value |
| Jack, Queen, King | 10 |
| Ace | 11 |
| Joker | 20 |
| Nothing laid down this round | 100 |
| Whoever played all their cards | 0 |
Three rounds, from start to finish
Léa, Lucas, Emma and Hugo play to 500 points. In the first round, Léa lays down her last card: she scores 0, and the three others count their hand.
- 1Lucas holds a king, a 7 and a 3: 10 + 7 + 3 = 20 points.
- 2Emma holds an ace and a joker: 11 + 20 = 31 points.
- 3Hugo could not lay anything down the whole round: he takes 100 points, whatever his hand.
- 4Round 2, Lucas goes out. Léa holds a queen and a 5 (15), Emma an 8 (8), Hugo a joker, a jack, a 9 and a 3 (42).
- 5Round 3, Emma goes out. Léa holds an ace, a king, a 10 and a 3 (34), Lucas a jack and a 2 (12), Hugo a 5 and a joker (25).
After three rounds: Lucas 32, Emma 39, Léa 49 and Hugo 167. Lucas leads, and the match goes on until someone reaches 500.
In Teamzy, you enter these numbers at the end of each round: totals and ranking update on their own, and the match ends at the right moment.

The questions that always come up at the table
In the French Rami that Teamzy counts, cards from 2 to 10 are worth their number, the jack, queen and king 10 points, the ace 11 points and the joker 20. These points count against you: they are the cards still in your hand when another player has gone out. The player who goes out scores 0.
In a run, the ace goes before the 2 (ace, 2, 3) or after the king (queen, king, ace). Left in your hand at the end of the round, it costs 11 points at most French tables, and that is the value Teamzy shows. If your table counts it as 1, just enter the total you count.
Because each player scores the cards left in their hand, as penalty points. Some tables play it the other way round: the player who goes out scores the cards of all the others, and the highest total wins. Teamzy counts the penalty way, like the French Rami: the lowest total wins when someone reaches 500.
In the French version, Rami 51, your first lay-down must total at least 51 points in one go, with at least one run without a joker. In German Rommé, it is often 40. Many tables play with no minimum at all. This rule changes nothing about how the cards left in hand are counted.
Many tables give 100 penalty points to the player who could not lay anything down when the round stops, instead of counting their hand. That is the “Nothing laid down this round” line in Teamzy: you enter 100 for them.
Laying down your whole hand in a single turn, without having laid anything down before, is called rami sec in France. The other players then count double the points left in their hand. In Teamzy, enter the doubled points directly.
Most often at 500 points: as soon as a player reaches that total, the match stops and the player with the lowest total wins. Some tables play to 1000, or for a set number of rounds. In Teamzy, the 500-point target can be changed in the game settings.
