Counting points in Catan, from settlements to hidden cards
Type everyone's settlements, city points and Victory Point cards, and check the Longest Road and the Largest Army. Teamzy adds it all up, names the winner and keeps the match in the history.

Catan in 30 seconds
Catan is a board game by Klaus Teuber in which 3 or 4 players, 5 or 6 with the extension, settle an island made of hexes. The dice make the terrain produce; with those resources, you build roads, settlements and cities, and buy development cards. The first player with 10 victory points on their turn wins at once: there is no final count comparing everyone, the match stops on that win.
What scores points
A settlement is worth 1 point, a city 2: it replaces a settlement, it does not add to it. The Longest Road, at least 5 roads in a row, and the Largest Army, at least 3 knights played, are worth 2 points each and belong to one player at a time. Each Victory Point card is worth 1 point and stays hidden until it makes you win. Roads alone score nothing.
The points, line by line
| What counts | Points |
|---|---|
| Settlement | 1 |
| City | 2 |
| Longest Road (5 roads or more) | 2 |
| Largest Army (3 knights or more) | 2 |
| Victory Point card (hidden until the end) | 1 |
| End of the match | At 10 points, on their turn |

Chloé, Nathan, Emma and Lucas play a four-player match. Nathan has played three knights and holds the Largest Army. Lucas has the Longest Road with 6 roads in a row. Chloé has bought several development cards and shown none of them.
- 1Nathan ends his turn on 9 points: 3 settlements, 2 cities worth 4 points, and the Largest Army. He is one point short, and can only win it on his next turn.
- 2Emma and Lucas play. Emma has 6 visible points, 4 settlements and a city. Lucas has 7: 3 settlements, a city and the Longest Road.
- 3On Chloé's turn, the table sees only 6 points: 2 settlements and 2 cities. She builds two roads, and her continuous road grows to 7, longer than Lucas's 6. The Longest Road changes hands: Chloé goes up to 8 points, Lucas drops back to 5.
- 4Chloé then reveals her 2 Victory Point cards: 8 + 2 = 10. It is her turn and she has 10 points, so the match stops at once.
- 5Everyone reveals their Victory Point cards to note their total: Emma had one and ends on 7, Nathan and Lucas had none.
Chloé wins with 10 points. Nathan comes second with 9, Emma third with 7, Lucas fourth with 5. Nathan led on what the board showed: the road taken from Lucas and Chloé's two hidden cards made the difference.
In Teamzy, you fill in the sheet once the match is over. On the Settlements line, type the number of settlements, 1 point each: 2 for Chloé. On the Cities line, type the points, 2 per city: 4 for Chloé's 2 cities. Longest Road and Largest Army are boxes to check worth 2 points: check them for whoever holds the card at the end, Chloé and Nathan. On the VP cards line, type the number of Victory Point cards, 2 for Chloé. Teamzy adds it up, names Chloé and keeps the match in the history.

The questions that come up at the table
Each settlement is worth 1 point, each city 2. The Longest Road and the Largest Army are worth 2 points to whoever holds them, and each Victory Point card 1 point. Almost all the points can be seen on the board; only the Victory Point cards stay hidden. The first player to reach 10 points on their turn wins. In Teamzy, the score sheet has a line for each of these counts and the total works itself out.
The Catan rules on the Catan GmbH website2 points. A city replaces a settlement: you take the settlement off the board and put the city in its place, so that intersection goes from 1 to 2 points. Each player has 5 settlements and 4 cities. In Teamzy, the Cities line takes points, not a number of cities: type 2 per city, 6 for three cities.
The first player with 5 roads in a row takes it and its 2 points; the current rulebook calls it the Longest Route. It goes to another player as soon as they have a longer continuous road; on a tie, the holder keeps it. An opponent's settlement built on your road cuts it in two. If, after such a cut, the holder no longer meets the requirements, it goes back to the middle of the table until a single player has the longest continuous road of at least 5. In Teamzy, check the Longest Road box of whoever holds it at the end.
The first player to have played 3 knights takes it and its 2 points. It goes to another player as soon as they have played more knights; on a tie, the holder keeps it. Only the knights played in front of you count, not the ones still in your hand. In Teamzy, check the Largest Army box of whoever holds it at the end.
Only to win. As long as they do not take you to 10 points, they stay hidden in front of you. When they are enough, you reveal them all at once, even one bought this turn. The base game has 5 of them among its 25 development cards. In Teamzy, once the match is over, everyone types the number of cards they had on the VP cards line.
No: you need 10 points on your own turn. If you reach 10 during someone else's turn, for instance because they cut an opponent's road and the Longest Road comes to you, you only win when your turn comes, if you still have 10 points and nobody has won before. You can also end on 11: on 9 points, taking the Longest Road gives you 2 at once.
The 5-6 player extension keeps the same points and the same end at 10; it changes how turns are played, as its rulebook explains. In Teamzy, nothing changes: add the extra mates, the sheet keeps the same lines.
These expansions change the goal. In Seafarers, each scenario sets its own number of points to win, from 10 to 14 in the current rulebook, and some give 2 extra points for your first settlement on a new island. Cities & Knights is played to 13 points, without development cards or the Largest Army: a metropolis adds 2 points to its city, the merchant is worth 1, and more points are earned by defending the island. Teamzy counts the base game: for an expansion, open the game in Teamzy before the match, tap "Add a category", name it, for instance Other points, and set it to "Typed". At the end, type each player's total of those points on that line.
