Flip 7 in 30 seconds

Flip 7 is a card game by Eric Olsen, published by The Op in 2024, for 3 players and more. In each round, whoever deals offers everyone, in turn, one more card: you take it and lay it in front of you, or you stay and keep your points. If you get a number you already have, you bust: the round gives you nothing. If you collect seven different numbers, that's a Flip 7: 15 bonus points, and the round ends for everyone. Points add up from round to round, and the match ends at the end of the round in which a player reaches 200: the highest total wins.

What each card is worth

At the end of the round, everyone adds up the number cards in front of them, from 0 to 12. The ×2 card doubles that total, and only that. Then add the +2 to +10 cards, then 15 points for a Flip 7. Whoever busted, with the same number twice, scores nothing in the round, modifier cards included. Everyone then adds their points to their total.

The last round of a match, with a Flip 7

Hugo, Léa, Lucas and Chloé play as four. After six rounds, Chloé leads with 185 points, ahead of Hugo (171), Lucas (168) and Léa (160).

  1. 1Round 7, Hugo gets 12, 10 and 7, then the ×2 card and the +6. He also gets a Flip Three and plays it on Chloé, who already has 9 and 4 in front of her.
  2. 2Chloé gets 5, then 12, then a second 9: she busts. With 30 points in front of her, she was going to 215; she scores nothing in the round and stays at 185.
  3. 3Hugo stays: his numbers make 29, doubled to 58, plus 6, so 64 points. Léa gets a Freeze and plays it on Lucas, who stops with 11, 2 and 8: 21 points.
  4. 4Léa goes on alone. She has 1, 3, 5, 6, 8 and 9, the +4 and a Second Chance when a second 6 comes: she discards both cards and stays in the round. Then comes an 11, her seventh different number: Flip 7, the round ends. Her numbers make 43, plus 4, plus 15: 62 points.
  5. 5Hugo goes from 171 to 235, Léa from 160 to 222: at least one player has reached 200, the match ends at the end of this round, and the highest total wins.

Hugo wins with 235 points, ahead of Léa (222), Lucas (189) and Chloé (185).

In Teamzy, you type everyone's points at the end of the round, already worked out: 64 for Hugo, 62 for Léa, 21 for Lucas and 0 for Chloé (an empty box counts as 0 too). The app adds up the totals, ranks from highest to lowest and ends the match as soon as someone reaches 200.

The questions that come up at the table

At the end of the round, add up your number cards, from 0 to 12. If you have the ×2 card, double that total. Then add your +2 to +10 cards, then 15 points if you made a Flip 7. If you busted, you score nothing in the round. That is the order of the rulebook of The Op, the game's publisher: in the example, Hugo scores 29 × 2 + 6, so 64 points.
