Score Phase 10, phases laid down included
Each round, you type the points left in everyone's hand and tick who laid down their phase: Teamzy adds up the totals, follows everyone's phase, ends the match when somebody completes phase 10 and names the winner.

Phase 10 in 30 seconds
Phase 10 is a rummy-style card game from Mattel for 2 to 6 players. Everyone gets 10 cards and has to complete ten phases in order: two sets of 3, then a set and a run, and so on up to phase 10. On your turn, you draw a card (from the draw pile or the discard pile), lay down your phase if you hold all of it, add cards to the phases already on the table, then discard. As soon as a player goes out, the round ends, and whoever has not laid down their phase tries the same one again next round. Cards left in hand cost points, and the match ends after the round in which somebody completes phase 10: among those who did, the lowest total wins.
What the cards left in hand are worth
At the end of the round, whoever went out scores 0. The others count only the cards still in their hand, not the ones already laid down: 5 points for a card from 1 to 9, 10 for a card from 10 to 12, 15 for a Skip, 25 for a Wild. Points add up from round to round, and the lowest total is the best. But the phase comes before the points: you only move on to the next phase if you laid down yours, and only someone who completed phase 10 can win.
The points of a round and the end of the match
| What counts | Points |
|---|---|
| Card from 1 to 9 left in hand | 5 |
| Card from 10 to 12 left in hand | 10 |
| Skip card left in hand | 15 |
| Wild card left in hand | 25 |
| Hand emptied (the player who goes out) | 0 |
| Phase 10 completed by at least one player | the match ends, the lowest total among them wins |
| Same total among those who completed it | tie |
The 10 phases, in order
Every player has to lay down these ten phases in order, one per round. A set is cards of the same number, a run is cards in sequence, whatever their colors; a Wild stands in for any card, as long as you lay down at least one number card.
| Phase | To lay down |
|---|---|
| 1 | 2 sets of 3 |
| 2 | 1 set of 3 + 1 run of 4 |
| 3 | 1 set of 4 + 1 run of 4 |
| 4 | 1 run of 7 |
| 5 | 1 run of 8 |
| 6 | 1 run of 9 |
| 7 | 2 sets of 4 |
| 8 | 7 cards of one color |
| 9 | 1 set of 5 + 1 set of 2 |
| 10 | 1 set of 5 + 1 set of 3 |

Emma, Lucas, Chloé and Nathan play as four. After ten rounds, Emma (140 points) and Lucas (150) have laid down nine phases: both are on phase 10. Chloé (225) and Nathan (310) have laid down seven and are on phase 8.
- 1Round 11, Emma and Lucas each lay down phase 10, a set of 5 and a set of 3. Now they can win the match.
- 2Chloé lays down her phase 8 and goes out: the round ends and she scores 0. Nathan laid down his phase 8 too and keeps 5 points in hand.
- 3Emma has 35 points left in hand and Lucas 10. The totals: Lucas 160, Emma 175, Chloé 225 and Nathan 315.
- 4Emma and Lucas completed phase 10: the match ends after the round. Chloé and Nathan, who have laid down only eight phases, cannot win.
- 5Among those who completed phase 10, the lowest total wins: Lucas. Emma went out more often, though, five times against three.
Lucas wins with 160 points, ahead of Emma (175), then Chloé (225) and Nathan (315), who stayed on phase 9.
In Teamzy, each round, you type the points left in everyone's hand and tick “Phase” for whoever laid down theirs. The app adds up the points, moves everyone's phase on, ends the match as soon as somebody completes phase 10 and ranks the players by the furthest phase, then by points.

The questions that come up at the table
At the end of the round, whoever went out scores 0. Each of the others adds up the cards left in their hand: 5 points for a card from 1 to 9, 10 for a card from 10 to 12, 15 for a Skip and 25 for a Wild. Cards already laid down do not count. Points add up from round to round, and the lowest total is the best.
Phase 10 on WikipediaNo. A player completes their phase as soon as they lay it down on the table, even if another player goes out before them: they move on to the next phase in the following round. Whoever has not laid down their phase before the round ends tries the same one again. So players are not all on the same phase at the same time. In Teamzy, you tick “Phase” for every player who laid theirs down, whether or not they went out.
After the round in which at least one player completes phase 10. Among those who did, the one with the lowest total wins, even if they did not go out: in the example, Lucas wins with 160 points ahead of Emma (175), who went out more often. A player who has not completed phase 10 does not win, even with fewer points.
If two or more players completed phase 10 with the same total, the rules have them play one more round to break the tie: the first to go out wins. In Teamzy, it is a tie: the win is shared.
First by the furthest phase, then by points: whoever is furthest along the phases comes first, and at the same phase, the lowest total. The winner is picked differently: the lowest total among those who completed phase 10. In the example, Chloé (225) is ahead of Nathan (315), both on phase 9.
The deck has 108 cards: 96 number cards (1 to 12, twice in each of the four colors), 8 Wilds and 4 Skips. Each player gets 10. A Skip makes another player miss a turn and is worth 15 points if it stays in your hand; a Wild stands in for any card and is worth 25 points. Holding a Wild is costly when the round ends without warning.
At the end of the round, type the points left in each player's hand (0 for whoever went out) and tick “Phase” for whoever laid theirs down. The app adds up the points, moves everyone's phase on, ends the match when somebody completes phase 10 and ranks the players. You find the match in the history, with its curve.
Teamzy follows the basic card game. For a shorter game, the rules suggest stopping before phase 10, or playing ten rounds where everyone moves on to the next phase each round: the app ends the match at phase 10. For those variants, type the points of each round and stop when your table decided to. The Phase 10 dice game and Phase 10 Master have their own rules, which the app does not follow.
