Keeping score in Time's Up!, round after round
At the end of each round, you type how many cards each team guessed: Teamzy adds up the totals, shows the team in the lead and ends the match after the 3rd round. The timer and the cards stay on the table. Before you play, the app also builds balanced teams from everyone's level.

Time's Up! in 30 seconds
Time's Up! is a team party game from Repos Production. In Time's Up! Party, the same 40 cards are used for three rounds: you get them guessed first by talking freely, then with a single word, then by miming, one team after the other, one player at a time against the timer. When all the cards of a round are guessed, you note how many each team guessed. After the third round, the team that guessed the most cards wins. In Teamzy, each card guessed is worth 1 point.
What each card is worth
Each card guessed earns 1 point for the team that guessed it. At the end of each round, you note how many cards each team guessed: the two numbers add up to the number of cards in play, since a round only stops once all of them are guessed. The three rounds are scored one after the other: the first by talking freely, the second with a single word, the third by miming. After the third, you add up the three rounds: the team with the highest total wins. If the two totals are equal, the rules say nothing, and Teamzy shows a tie.
The points of the match
| What counts | Points |
|---|---|
| Round 1: talk freely | 1 per card found |
| Round 2: one word only | 1 per card found |
| Round 3: mime | 1 per card found |
| Same total after the 3rd round | tie |
The score sheet of the example
The three rounds of the match told below, with 40 cards: the cards guessed by each team, their total for the round, then the totals of both teams after the round. The team that guesses the most in a round is in color. The Tigers lead after the first two rounds; the Eagles move ahead in the last one.
| Round | The Eagles | The Tigers | Total of the round | Totals after the round |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Talk freely | 15 | 25 | 40 | 15-25 |
| 2. One word only | 22 | 18 | 40 | 37-43 |
| 3. Mime | 24 | 16 | 40 | 61-59 |
| Total | 61 | 59 |
A match in three rounds
Lucas and Hugo (the Eagles) play against Emma and Léa (the Tigers) at Time's Up! Party, with 40 cards, used for all three rounds.
- 1Round 1, talking freely: the Eagles guess 15 cards and the Tigers 25. The two numbers make 40, so every card is guessed: the Tigers lead by 25 cards to 15.
- 2Round 2, one word only: the same 40 cards are shuffled again. The Eagles guess 22, the Tigers 18. The Tigers stay in front, with 43 cards to 37.
- 3Round 3, miming: the Eagles guess 24 and the Tigers 16. The Eagles gain 8 cards and move ahead, with 61 cards to 59.
- 4All three rounds are played: the match is over.
The Eagles win with 61 cards guessed against 59 for the Tigers, after trailing by 6 cards at the end of round 2.
In Teamzy, at the end of each round you type how many cards each team guessed: 15 and 25, then 22 and 18, then 24 and 16. The app adds up the totals, shows the team in the lead and announces the end of the match once the three rounds are played. It handles neither the timer nor the cards: you only give it the numbers.

The questions that come up at the table
A card guessed counts for the team that guessed it. You add up each team's cards over the three rounds, and the highest total wins. The table and the example above show a full match.
The Time's Up! Party rules from Repos Production (PDF)In Time's Up! Party, the rules deal out 40 cards, the same ones for all three rounds. In each round, the cards guessed by the two teams therefore add up to 40, as in the example. Other editions have their own number of cards: check the rules in your box. Teamzy does not ask for this number, you only type each team's cards.
The Time's Up! Party rules give the length of a sand timer without a figure: the one in your box is what counts. Teamzy times nothing: the timer stays on the table.
The player hands the deck to the next team. In the first round, it carries on with the card in play, and you cannot skip a card. In rounds 2 and 3, the card in play, the cards not guessed, the skipped cards and the mistakes go back into the draw pile, shuffled for the next team, and you can skip a card. In Teamzy, none of this is typed: only the number of cards guessed counts.
The Time's Up! Party rules only say that the team that guessed the most cards wins: they give no tiebreaker. In Teamzy, two identical totals after the 3rd round show as a tie. To name a winner, agree on a tiebreaker before you start.
No. The rules ask for teams of at least two players, not necessarily the same number, as long as each team plays in turn. Teamzy scores a match between two teams, with 4 to 12 players.
In Teamzy, pick Time's Up!, tick the players and tap “Balanced by level”: the app splits them into two teams with levels as close as possible. Everyone has a level from 1 to 5 stars for each game, kept from one match to the next. Not convinced? Tap “Reshuffle” for another draw. The balanced draw is part of Premium; without Premium, teams are drawn at random.
The Time's Up! Party rules offer an expert variant for 5 and 7 players: no more teams, each player plays with the neighbor on the left and the neighbor on the right, and the score is the total of the cards guessed on their left and on their right. Teamzy only scores matches between two teams.
