Keep score at Saboteur, shared gold and winning saboteurs included
At the end of each round, you type the nuggets everyone won, 0 for the losing team: Teamzy adds up the totals and, after the 3rd round, names the winner.

Saboteur in 30 seconds
Saboteur, by Amigo, is played by 3 to 10 players. Everyone secretly gets a role: gold-digger or saboteur. The gold-diggers lay path cards to link the starting ladder to the finish card that hides the gold; the saboteurs do everything to stop the tunnel getting there, without being found out. If the gold is reached, the gold-diggers share gold cards worth 1 to 3 nuggets each, and the saboteurs leave empty-handed. Otherwise, it is the saboteurs who cash in. You play 3 rounds, with the roles dealt again each time: after the 3rd, whoever has the most nuggets wins. Even though the roles play as teams, you keep score every player for themselves.
Who wins how many nuggets
It all depends on how the round ends. If a path links the ladder to the gold, you draw as many gold cards as there are players (only nine with ten players): the gold-digger who laid the last path card picks one, then passes the rest to the next gold-digger, counter-clockwise, until none are left. Some gold-diggers therefore get several, and saboteurs get none. If the gold is not reached (the stock is empty and nobody can play), the saboteurs win: 4 nuggets for a lone saboteur, 3 each if there are 2 or 3, 2 each if there are 4. Gold cards stay hidden until the end; with Teamzy, you simply type everyone's total at the end of the round.
The nuggets of a round
| What counts | Points |
|---|---|
| Gold reached: the gold-diggers share as many gold cards as there are players (9 with 10 players) | 1 to 3 nuggets a card |
| Gold not reached, a single saboteur | 4 nuggets |
| Gold not reached, 2 or 3 saboteurs | 3 nuggets each |
| Gold not reached, 4 saboteurs | 2 nuggets each |
| Losing team | 0 |
| Same total after the 3rd round | tie |
The roles by number of players
The rulebook lists the role cards to shuffle, always one more than there are players: everyone gets one, face down, and the last one is set aside without being revealed. So there can be one saboteur fewer at the table than in the chart, and none at all with 3 or 4 players. The roles are dealt again every round.
| Players | Saboteurs | Gold-diggers |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | 1 | 3 |
| 4 | 1 | 4 |
| 5 | 2 | 4 |
| 6 | 2 | 5 |
| 7 | 3 | 5 |
| 8 | 3 | 6 |
| 9 | 3 | 7 |
| 10 | 4 | 7 |
Everyone's share, by role
Only one side gets nuggets each round. In the app, you write 0 for the losing team.
| Role | Gold reached | Gold not reached |
|---|---|---|
| Gold-digger | One or more gold cards, 1 to 3 nuggets each | 0 |
| Saboteur, alone | 0 | 4 nuggets |
| Saboteur, with 1 or 2 others | 0 | 3 nuggets each |
| Saboteur, with 3 others | 0 | 2 nuggets each |
The sheet of the example
The three rounds of the match told below, with everyone's nuggets as they are typed and their total underneath. The saboteurs of the round are in orange: they get nothing when the gold is reached, and it is Noé, the only saboteur in round 2, who pockets the 4 nuggets.
| Round | Emma | Hugo | Léa | Noé | Chloé |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1gold reached | 33 | 0 (saboteur)0 | 22 | 0 (saboteur)0 | 44 |

The score sheet to print
A Saboteur score sheet on US Letter paper, for 3 to 10 players and the 3 rounds: in each box, the nuggets of the round and the total underneath. Everyone's share is recalled at the bottom. Print it for your next game, or let Teamzy count.

Emma, Hugo, Léa, Noé and Chloé play with five. The box then calls for 2 saboteurs and 4 gold-diggers: six role cards are shuffled, everyone secretly gets one, and the sixth is set aside.
- 1Round 1. Hugo and Noé are saboteurs, but the tunnel of Emma, Léa and Chloé reaches the gold. Five gold cards are drawn, one per player, and the three gold-diggers share them: Emma leaves with 3 nuggets, Léa with 2 and Chloé with 4. Hugo and Noé get nothing.
- 2Round 2. This time, Noé is the only saboteur: the second Saboteur card was set aside. He blocks the tunnels so well that the stock runs out without the gold being reached. A lone saboteur pockets 4 nuggets, and the four gold-diggers get nothing.
- 3Round 3. Chloé is the only saboteur, and the other four reach the gold. Five gold cards for four gold-diggers: Emma takes 2 nuggets, Hugo 3, Léa 1 and Noé 3 (he received two cards). Chloé gets nothing.
Noé wins with 7 nuggets, ahead of Emma (5), Chloé (4), Hugo and Léa (3).
In Teamzy, at the end of each round you type everyone's nuggets, in the order Emma, Hugo, Léa, Noé, Chloé: 3, 0, 2, 0 and 4, then 0, 0, 0, 4 and 0, then 2, 3, 1, 3 and 0 (an empty box counts 0). The app adds up the totals, ranks from highest to lowest and stops the match after the 3rd round. The roles stay your secret: Teamzy does not deal them, it only counts. While you type, “How do you count the points?” recalls everyone's share.

The questions that come up at the table
At the end of each round, it all depends on the gold. If a path links the ladder to the finish card that hides the gold, the gold-diggers share as many gold cards as there are players (nine with ten players), 1 to 3 nuggets each, and the saboteurs get nothing. Otherwise, the saboteurs win: 4 nuggets for a lone saboteur, 3 each if there are 2 or 3, 2 each if there are 4. After 3 rounds, you add up all your nuggets.
The official Amigo rulebook (PDF, in English)One with 3 and 4 players, two with 5 and 6, three from 7 to 9, four with 10 players, with 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 7 and 7 gold-diggers. But since one role card is always set aside, there can be one saboteur fewer in the round: with 5 players, one or two, and with 3 or 4 players, one or none.
With 3 or 4 players, the role card set aside may be the saboteur's. If the gold is not reached in that case, nobody gets any nuggets: type 0 for everyone.
The gold-digger who laid the last path card takes the drawn gold cards (as many as there are players, nine with ten players) and picks one. They pass the rest, counter-clockwise, to the next gold-digger, and so on until the last card. Saboteurs are skipped, and a gold-digger can receive several cards. In Teamzy, you type everyone's nugget total once the cards are handed out.
From 1 to 3 nuggets. The box holds 28 gold cards; the rulebook does not list how they split by value, but only each player's total of nuggets counts: type the sum of their cards at the end of the round.
The roles stay secret during the round, and the role cards are turned over only when the gold is shared out. For the next round, the same role cards are shuffled again, the one set aside included, and dealt anew. Teamzy does not deal the roles: they are cards of the game, and the app never sees them.
The youngest player starts the first round, then play goes clockwise. In the next round, it is the left neighbor of the player who played the last card of the previous round. There is no dealer at Saboteur: Teamzy offers a “Who goes first?” instead.
Three, always. After the 3rd round, everyone counts the nuggets on all their gold cards and the highest total wins. Teamzy stops the match after the 3rd round.
Players tied after the 3rd round are tied in first place: the win is shared. Teamzy shows it as a tie.
The base box by Amigo (Gigamic in France), for 3 to 10 players. Saboteur 2, Saboteur: The Duel and the anniversary editions have their own cards and rules: Teamzy does not describe them. If your table plays them, type everyone's nuggets as you count them.
